« Would I say that the pardon of crimes committed against the child is not only ineffective, but also harmful? Yes that's exactly what I mean. Because the body doesn't understand moral precepts. It fights against the denial of true emotions and for the truth to reach consciousness. This truth was denied to the child: in order to survive, he had to lie and be blind to the crimes of his parents. The adult is not obliged to do so, and if he persists anyway, he pays dearly, at the cost of his health. Or he makes others pay: his children, his patients, his subordinates, etc. A therapist, for example, who has forgiven his parents for abusing him, will often feel pressured to recommend this so-called remedy to his patients. In doing so, he exploits their dependence and trust. If he is, to a large extent, cut off from his feelings, he will generally ignore that he inflicts on others what was once inflicted upon him: he deceives them, sows confusion in their minds and rejects all responsibility because he is convinced that he acted for their good. Don't all religions agree that forgiveness leads to heaven, has Job not finally been rewarded for forgiving God? If the therapist identifies with his abusive parents, the patient has nothing good to expect from him. »
