« Anyone who is able to give of himself is rich. He feels like he can confer on himself to others. Only those who have the bare necessities of their livelihood, without any surplus, would be unable to take pleasure in giving material goods. But daily experience teaches us that what a person considers to be the bare necessities depends as much on his character as on what he actually possesses. It is well known that the poor are more willing to give than the rich. Beyond a certain point, it is true, poverty can make giving impossible, and therefore it is demeaning, not only because of the suffering it causes directly, but also because it deprives the poor of the joy of giving. »

Industrial religion is absolutely incompatible with authentic Christianity. It makes individuals the slaves of the economy and machinism they built with their own hands. »
