« There is a way of defining the true meaning of the difference between democracy and fascism. Democracy is a system that creates the economic, political and cultural conditions for the complete development of the individual. Fascism is a system that, regardless of what name, makes the individual a subordinate to external goals and weakens the development of authentic individuality. »

« I want to mention briefly some of the educational methods used today that in fact further discourage original thinking. One of them is the emphasis on knowledge of the facts or, I should say, of the information. Pathetic superstition suggests that by knowing more and more facts one comes to the knowledge of reality. Students are taught hundreds of confusing and unrelated facts, all their time and energy are used to learn more and more facts, so there is little room for thought. Thinking without knowledge of the facts remains empty and fictitious, but "information" alone can be as much an obstacle to thought as its absence. »
