« The current drama of Tibet and the forced exile of Tibetans, far from pushing back the prophecy, only reinforce it: are the llamas not spreading Buddhism throughout the world in the face, on the one hand, of a capitalist ideology that dissolves spiritual values, increases inequalities and the risks of social conflict, on the other hand, a radical Islamism that can appear as a threat to world peace? »

« Contentment brings happiness, even in poverty. Dissatisfaction brings unhappiness, even in wealth. There is no worse scourge than the spirit of lust. »

« My first great emotion of love, I knew her as a child, not with a little classmate, but walking in the forest: it was a contemplative joy. I must have been eight or nine years old. My aunt, Antoinette, who was an ethnologist in Cameroon, had brought me a bow and arrows. My father had offered me to go pheasant hunting in the forest next to where we lived. It was an early Sunday morning. I remember a very soft light filtering through the branches of the trees. I was moving slowly with my bow, while my father followed me, a few meters behind me. Suddenly, a huge pheasant, with sumptuous colors, flew right in front of me. I was frozen in amazement. My father yelled at me: "Shoot, shoot!". I watched the animal spread its wings and rise towards the sun. Then a second pheasant, and soon a third and a fourth flew in their turn, before my astonished eyes. I then dropped my bow and arrows to the ground to contemplate this spectacle, upset. My heart was filled with joy. My father understood and put his hand on my shoulder, also moved by the beauty of nature. I knew at that moment that I would never be a hunter. »
